RE: 6.0 Ford PowerStroke longevity/reliablility

KEEP IT STOCK...........THIS IS right ON!!!! dont let them deny you warranty......The only thing you can get by with is an exhaust.... The 6.0 psd is at its limits now, it cannot handle the extra power of a programmer safely........ All the trouble my truck had , and IT WAS STOCK!! With Ford so quick to deny warranty claims, I would leave it stock.

RE: 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 gets rave reviews.

I do like the new challengers and chargers... So they are all made cheap anyways.....BUT I havent seen the new camaro yet, see if GM comes back and tops dodge yet again , as it has all these years...either way I would still be happy with the challenger , even though its a mopar... I was kind of disappointed in the Ram 1500after the first review I read and color photos I saw. I don't know. I guess I was just expecting more after all the advertising hype. Doesn't seem as re-engineered as the new F150. No real drivetrain changes other than the changes made to the Hemi. The Dash and shifter portion of the console kind of looks cheap when seen up close and in color. Looks lifted from the Charger/Magnum which was not very impressive. Cheesy chrome and cheap looking textured hard plastic. The chassis is realtively unchanged except for some stiffening in frontal areas and to accomodate the CS rear. My likes: The exterior looks sweet and the new rear end with the coil springs looks like it will be a big success. Nice to see a real CC without having to go Mega.Actually, I have had a lot of compliments on the interior of my 08' Charger RT. The interior makes the car look a lot more expensive than what I paid for it. Most are surprised at the price. It's tight, doesn't look cheap or plastic, and incredibly comfortable. The 09' truck has the same new interior and you cannot make accurate observations from just pictures. By the way it is not textured hard plastic.

RE: Its here 1/2 ton Shootout!

No its not meaningful...Still a dodge.....Seen the new f150 today, Take it and go with it.......great looking truck.. Everyone is talking about engine, but what about the squat test? Dodge's new rear coil suspension squatted the most carrying 6500 lbs with 10% tongue weight. Is this meaningful? Is too much squating a bad thing?

RE: Its here 1/2 ton Shootout!

No bricks needed, the duramax will beat the ford and cummins, hands down.... Very cool. I wish that they would do this with 3/4 and 1 ton diesel and gas trucks as well. Or have they? There was one on here a couple years ago. They had to put something like 4000# of bricks in the Ford so the Chevy could win. :R My Dodge came in last, of course. But that was THEIR opinion. I wouldn't trade her for anything. :)

RE: 6.0 Ford PowerStroke longevity/reliablility

Always was a bad motor, from begin to end, period....Ford knows it, IH knows it as well as all the experts in the diesel community..Just a few diehards who refuse to beleive it...BUT all manufactures have given us junk.......past and present.... I would own the new ford 6.4..... Well, I have reasonably good service with my 2003 6.0L, until recently. A little more than a week and a half before a trip to Disney, it started to run rough, dealer replaced injectors 1, 2, and 4. Big bucks! On the trip to Florida, starts running rough again and looses power and dies on I-95 south in GA. Towed to nearest dealer. They replace high pressure fuel pump and injector 3. Big bucks, again in less than a week! By this time we had missed half of our vacation, so we cancel with Disney and attempt to return home, dies 8 miles on I-95 north. Did the tow routine again, 5er to KOA and truck to same dealer again. They can't fix it so I arrange a friend to tow 5er home. What a trip. Truck is still at dealer in GA, not fixed. I am working with Ford Motor Company on a buy back or a settlement of some sort. I have been a long time supporter of Ford, by I am not sure I want another.

RE: 6.0 Ford PowerStroke longevity/reliablility

The 6.o I think has a service life of 250k......Now geting there with few problems is a different story.. its really ashame, the best truck and it has to have the worst engine.. I think my old 35o diesel caprice was more reliable... My 6.0s problems started in the mid to high 30k mile range.. Watch out for turbo and egr probelms.. Just drive the truck and dont worry about having problems. Just get rid of it when the waranty is about to expire...

RE: 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 gets rave reviews.

Heck you just read it, your probably right:S Silverado has allways been the lighter fluid for Dodges 2nd hand torch. Dodge will allways suck hind tit to Chevy.Problem is, you might not be able to buy a GM real soon, looks like they'd be the first to collapse , just got done reading about it.

RE: Decision time. Any Advice?

Find a better GM dealer...... but there is a reason they dont drop the price as much as the dodge, Gm dont have problems selling thier HD diesels..:) Well between the 2, I like the diesel, But the room in the ford and the super duty as a whole is alot better truck.... Maybe a 6.4 diesel ford??? As someone pointed out , that Ford V-10 is a great motor and will last and gets decent milage.. If I was towing ALOT I think I would want the diesel..Here and there maybe the V-10.....

RE: Newbie needing Advice; Chevy, Dodge or Ford Diesel??

SUPER DUTY!!!!!!! any of the 3 will do fine...... The duramax has the most power, but they are all so close, it dont matter........The quality of the Super Duty itself exceeds the Dodge and even the GM's....... A few years ago, I would have said the GM's is the ebst overall....My 2007 I feel is the bests overall when I bought it.....The new 6.4 ford has proven to be just fine..

RE: Ford 6.0L Diesel news

I had one of them old diesels in my caprice classic, AS bad as they were I think it was more reliable than my 6.0psd....:B Appreciate the info. and insight concerning my question. Do you think this may be why Ford is working on this new in-house diesel to replace the 6.4 Navistar/Ford diesel? The 6.4 has only been out 2 years. That is a very short time, and to be designing or preparing to replace it seems rather strange. Is the 6.4, basically the 6.0 engine only stroked or bored to a larger displacement, and does it have Navistar's blessings of reliability, this time, at it's current(Ford) power output? No problem Eightball. Yes I do. The marriage is over. When they were fighting, Nav refused to give Ford engines!!! Pretty hard to make trucks without engines!!! Ford is through with this deal. This is a big big project. Anybody can design a good engine that will last. BUT to design a clean diesel nowdays is a monumental task. There is just SOOOOOOOO many things to deal with. Ford lost a bunch of $$$'s on the 6.4. It's BIG $$$'s to develop anything now days; and to keep an engine design just 2 or 3 years is crazy. That is why GM made big bucks on the small block Chevy. Only a few parts to keep in stock because all the parts were the same for about 40 years or so. From what I have read the 6.4 is a good engine. The only thing that is screwed up is things from Ford subcontractors, like radiators and DPF's. For the record, if I could get a 6.0 for a song, and needed one, I would in a heart beat. I would pull the engine and stud it, yank the EGR system off and never look back. But what do I know, I drive a 5.7 diesel every day to work!!!! And we know what everyone thinks about those engines!!!:B You just have to be smarter than those engineers that work for the big 3..........soon to be big two!!! Thanks Sweetpete.

RE: Edmunds. long term test 07 Chevy Silverado 1500, not good.

Hemi my a$$, I was going to put a sticker on My nissan titan that said "dont need a hemi"....... the little nissan motor spanks a Big powefull Hemi...... But dodge/ford and Gm have always been known to over-rate their power....Hemi just over hype that they came out with to try and sell some dodges... Now I would love to have one of the original Cudas with the hemi... No thank you...I take my 2007 3500 GMC Duramax any day. Take it where? the dealer, the junk yard, the Ford or Dodge dealer to trade it? inquiring minds want to know!!! Can`t wait to see the Camaro with a real engine in it.............A HEMI!!!

RE: Edmunds. long term test 07 Chevy Silverado 1500, not good.

He just likes dodge....If it would have been a Dodge, it would have been followed by They must have gotten a bad one......:B or dont believe what them places like Edmunds or consumer reports say.... My 93 chevy was rated bad as well....One of the best trucks I had.... besides with the way the world is going and whats happening in our country, you guys should support all brands...... I came across this article this evening. Not a very good performance by a redesigned truck at all. Edmunds was not impressed. I'm sure they got a lemon, but in the article it states the dealer has seen lots of these failures. Read about it here. It's only based on an experience with one truck, and it looks like they got a bad one. Could have happened to any of the brands. I wouldn't draw any conclusion from it. Everyone I know with that truck is very satisfied.

RE: Edmunds. long term test 07 Chevy Silverado 1500, not good.

Nope, Chrysler is the one that is needy.....they would benifit the most from a merger.... if anything they will be keeping the Gm line of trucks and hopefully improving chryslers quality..Not too mention with Gm's name tied to it improve chryslers resale value...... I love the old challenger and cudas, would like to have one of them new ones, but funnny how it seems Dodge is always chasing GM and Ford, but never seems to catch up with them.... They have always been behind... Maybe its just the publics perception that dodge is junk or maybe americans are smarter than you think.... A friend bought a truck recently and came by my house with a bunch of them, all half tons.... I was trying to convince him to get a titan, but I must say I really like the F150 over the silverado..... The front back seats are a little nicer in the GM, but the ford seems to look a little bit better put together.... I told him to go look at the dodge as well, but he had that typical mentallity of I dont like Dodges....He did get the F150..Nice truck.. Good news is when they finally merge with Chrysler they can get into the heavy-duty line of pickups and scrape the silverado, GMC lines. Also they will finally have a large group of automobiles to sell like the Chrysler 300 and the Magnum with a non piston slapping engine. Just hope they lose the stupid bow tie!

RE: Interesting Comarison Ford PSD 6.0 Vs. 08 Ram 6.7 CTD

I got you.. I have had all three trucks and Not really partial, would own any again.....BUT In My Opinion the Duramax is the "BEST OVERALL"truck........ The Ford is the toughest , beefiest truck, the dodge used to be the best diesel motor, Now the D-max is proving just as good.... SO with a motor as good as the cummins and the BEST transmission and a truck with Better seats and more comfortable ride than the other 2, I got to come to the conclusion the Duramax is the best overall...... and for those who call it an isuzi and so on, and the cummins is proven and yada yada yada, the cummins and hemi is what sells the dodge truck, otherwise they would even be in more trouble than they are..... The ford is the Perfect size cab..... the dodge either too big or too small... the GM's have the next perfect size cab... If I had big KIDS I would probably get the Mega cab... and By the way Isuzi is the oldest manufacture of diesels next to mercedes, which I really dont care, but People always have to throw the cummins has been around this long in the whole deal...... We all have our opinions, and different perceptions of what is better or more comfortable...just glad we dont all like the same thing....... oh sure yea!!! ford= best truck=crappy motor...dodge great motor=crappy truck..... Wow Riddler, you sure make it hard for the Ford guys to spin that one! Cummins is still the best engine ever put in a pickup period. Not so much. I think if you read my post you will see that i call the dodge the Best truck overall, Not JUST best powertrain. i have had less trouble out of My dodge INCLUDING interior, HVAC, and every thing other then the Cummins. Yes the Ford interior is a little nicer, but thats comparing SLT vs Lariat. BUT i have had issues with the electronics in the cab of the ford and other few problems here and their. It may be nicer, but at what cost? I like to be able to use the things i buy, not just say, "yeah i got that option", but it doesnt work. Sure the A/C controls on the steering wheel are a nice option, but my WHOLE HVAC system doesnt even work right now on the F350. My 05 F350 did the same thing. Many other problems with the 05 too. The 07 has been the most trouble free FORD yet, and thats still not saying much when compared to my Dodge. My dodge is my favorite vehicle ever, hands down. Oh, and im a die hard GM fan! I test drove All 3 before deciding. i really wanted a duramx before driving any, but after driving them all I knew the Dodge was the right truck for me. It fits me perfectly. I really feel like a part of the truck when im driving it, we become one lol
